Who is PCG?
Our Story
Perry County Generations first opened its doors in Landisburg on August 21, 2006 as small, privately owned, family business founded by Fay Henry and her daughter, Diane Shope. Fay’s background was in nursing home administration, while Diane taught preschool at the Shippensburg University Head Start Program.

Originally, the vision for PCG was to create an intergenerational day program serving both children and senior adults. While the adult care side of the program never fully developed, the child care program quickly grew. After helping guide the transition to an all-children program, Fay stepped away and Diane took the lead.

Our Programs
At Perry County Generations, we provide nurturing, educational child care programs designed to support children through every stage of development. From infancy through school age, our programs create a safe, engaging environment where children can learn, grow and thrive.

Infant Child Care
Ages 6 Weeks to 1 Year
We understand the importance of trusting someone with your child’s earliest years. Our infant program provides a warm, nurturing environment where babies receive individualized attention, loving care and opportunities to begin exploring the world around them in a safe and supportive setting.

Toddler Child Care
Ages 2 to 3 Years
Toddlers are naturally curious, active learners. Our toddler classrooms use the HighScope Curriculum to encourage hands-on exploration, movement and discovery. Children are supported as they build confidence, independence, communication and social skills through purposeful play and sensory learning experiences.

Preschool
Ages 3 Years to Entering Kindergarten
Our preschool program helps prepare children for kindergarten while still embracing the importance of play-based learning. Using the HighScope Curriculum, teachers create engaging classroom environments that encourage children to explore materials, interact with peers and teachers, develop academic readiness skills and learn what it means to be part of a classroom community.

School Age Child Care
Kindergarten through 5th Grade
We offer before and after school care, along with care during school vacations, in-service days and summer break. Our school age program provides children with a safe, structured and fun environment where they can relax, complete homework, build friendships and participate in engaging activities outside of the school day.

Growing With Perry County Families
Over the years, Perry County Generations has expanded to three locations: the original Landisburg facility, the Shermans Dale location in 2018, and most recently, the Duncannon location in 2022.

We are proud of how far we have come and remain committed to providing quality care and education to the children of Perry County. All three of our locations are the only centers in Perry County to achieve STAR 4 status through the Keystone STARS program.
What is Keystone STARS?
Keystone STARS rates child care programs from one to four STARS on things you care about. Programs may meet state regulations for safety, and offer a kid-friendly atmosphere with good teachers that partner with you to help your child learn. Child care and Head Start programs within Keystone STARS earn a STAR 1 to STAR 4 rating based on quality standards that measure:
-
Staff education
-

As programs earn more STARS, they are providing higher quality early education for your child.

Safety & Quality Care
PCG is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. All of our centers are secure facilities with coded entry systems. Every staff member has completed Pennsylvania State Police, ChildLine, FBI, and National Sex Offender Registry clearances. In addition, all staff are certified in Pediatric First Aid and CPR.

Our Faith-Based Philosophy
Perry County Generations is a faith-based program. While we are not affiliated with a specific denomination, we choose to guide children through lessons centered on kindness, compassion, and the wonder of God’s creation. We teach basic prayers, share daily devotionals, and focus on the true meaning of Christmas and Easter, while also incorporating secular songs, stories, and fingerplays into our curriculum.

Our philosophy is simple: “Do unto others.” We hope the children in our care grow into kind, compassionate, and caring individuals.
